History: We purchased this car in 1985. I drove it to work everyday for a few years. Then when gas prices went up (around $1.25; I wish it was that price now) my wife started carpooling in it to work as she worked closer to home than mI did. Around 1990 we stored it in our garage. It was always a beautiful car, but had developed the typical rust behind the rear wheels. In 1997 we decided to restore it with the hopes of taking it to some of the local car shows/cruises. We never really expected to win anything with it, and figured we would just have some fun at the shows. I took the engine out and gave the car to two guys we know that do body and paint work on the side. All metal was replaced where there was rust and the body was fixed anywhere work was needed. The car had a complete paint job. During the year it took to get the body back, I tore down the engine and overhauled it. At the same time I did all the cosmetics as well as had a lot of chroming and ceramic thermal coating done. In the middle of June of 1998 we were ready for our first show with still some bugs to work out. We didn''t win anything at our first show, but did win our first award shortly for 70''s Best Muscle Car. After that we seemed to be winning a lot. As I said we never really planned on winning anything but that would just be a bonus. What we didn''t know was how addicted you can get to fixing your car to make it even better. The next winter I even went further with the car. (When will it ever quit; I already got next years list?) We showed the car for a couple more years and then quit taking it to shows/cruises, winning more than our share of awards. Since then we enjoy taking it out now and then and going by cruises, stopping by and looking at all the other beautiful cars, and then cruising on. Watch out, it may be ready to come out of retirement!
