Description
I have a 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. It is my dream car. When it first came out in 1996, I loved it, but I had three kids who played sports (and I coached their baseball teams) and the Impala was not the right vehicle to haul everyone around. I still dreamed of someone day owning one. When I retired in 2003 from the U.S. Air Force (22 years as an F-16 technician), I was finally able to afford one. I began to search for the perfect car. I found my car in Denver, it was a one owner with only 15,000 miles on it. I cannot express how happy I was to own it. For the first three years I was perfectly happy with its two modifications, K&N cold air intake and Borla catback exhaust. Then I began to get the bug to do some modifications myself. I replaced the stock wheels with Boss 18 inch wheels and NITTO tires. I began with 3.73 gears and a performance tune. These modifications cured the bug for a couple more years. I moved to Las Vegas, NV and joined the local club SSin City SS and I was exposed to many other cars. I then purchased a Powerdyne supercharger running 6psi, 36 lbs fuel injectors, a Walbro fuel pump, 160 degree thermostat, Grotyohan long tube headers, Magnaflow high flow cats, Hotchkis springs, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, Bilstein shocks, Vigilante 3000 stall Torque Converter, F-Body MAF, Snow Performance water/meth injection, and a lot of polished billet dress up covers. I installed a 3-guage pillar and billet shifter knob. I still have many more mods to do to the car, upgraded brakes, stereo to start with.
